Southern
Oregon University’s Hannon Library hosts its third annual Ashland Book and Author Festival on September 20, 2014, 10 AM to 4 PM. This event features authors,
publishers, and community organizations covering a wide range of literary
interests. Come meet with writers from many genres, attend a variety of
workshops and presentations, listen to author readings and, of course, buy
books.
This
year’s festival continues its tradition of bringing together the region’s
literary community with an expanded array of events and activities. A series of
workshops on writing, publishing, and book marketing offers guests the chance
to benefit from the experiences of literary professionals. There will be a
variety of presentations, including readings by winners of the Rogue Valley
Messenger’s Short Fiction Contest, and panel discussions on Oregon history,
mysteries, fantasy and science fiction, and Shakespeare. Authors will be
available throughout the day to sell and sign books, give readings, and discuss
their work. Also returning this year is the Kids Corner, with ongoing crafts
and games for children. A complete list of participating authors and publishers
will be available on the festival’s website, as well as the current event
schedule for the day of the festival.
There is
no admission fee to attend the festival, and free parking will be available on
campus. For more information, contact Hannon Library Administration at
541-552-6816 or libraryevents@sou.edu.
This event is sponsored by the Friends of Hannon Library, SOU Alumni Association, Noble Coffee Roasters, Jackson County Library Systems, SMART, Friends of the Medford Library, and the Rogue Valley Messenger.
